Which points count as inside when a path’s contours overlap (docs/canvas.md).

This matters the moment a shape has a hole: the counter of an “o”, a washer, a ring chart. It is a property of the fill, so stroking ignores it.

Variants

NonZero

Direction-sensitive: a hole needs its contour wound the opposite way. Every 2-D API’s default, and what a font’s glyph outlines assume.

EvenOdd

Parity: any contour inside another cuts a hole regardless of winding. What PDF’s f* operator and SVG’s fill-rule: evenodd mean.
