A field’s path component, derived from its name at compile time.

Hand-assigned indices are a hazard: two fields given the same number share a trigger, and the symptom is a wakeup that fires too often, invisible until someone profiles it. A name is already unique within a struct, so the compiler’s own uniqueness rule becomes the path’s.
