Whether and how a window joins macOS window tabs (WindowOptions::tabbing, Cap::WindowTabbing). Other platforms have no system window tabs and ignore it.

Variants

Automatic

The platform default for the window’s kind: an ordinary window tabs with the app’s other ordinary windows when the user’s “Prefer tabs” setting says so; preferences never tab.

Group(String)

Tab only with windows of the same group, following the user’s setting. The tab bar’s “+” opens the builder registered for this group (register_new_window_for).

Preferred(String)

Always open as a tab of an existing window of the same group, whatever the setting.

Disallowed

Never become a tab.
